I am on the east coast and it’s freezing. I grew up in Africa, and spent roughly 6 six years in Massachusetts before moving to California. I am not used to this weather, and despite my close resemblance to a penguin – I don’t do well in the snow. I don’t miss cold weather, and was very jealous when Melissa told me that today was in the low 70”s at home. Here’s hoping I make it through the trip without turning into an icicle.

My brother and father both celebrate birthdays this week, and last night my mom threw them a fantastic party. She made this amazing 3 layered cake, which included jam with big berried in-between each layer. Amazing.

It has been so nice spending time with my family. Shaun and Megan live down the hall from my parents, and we spent the day together. This afternoon we all ended up sitting around the dining room table. My mom was making alterations on a jacket they gave me. Megan and I were making jewelry. My dad was working on his laptop with his coin collection, and Shaun was watching videos on YouTube. It was awesome. We were all doing on our own thing, but chatting and laughing together. Also amazing.

Tomorrow I head into NYC to start installing the YCHIA exhibition. Ashley and I have been working our butts off the last few months to get this show together. She was not able to come out for the show, and I will miss her presence. I’m aso sorry she doesn’t get to see the rewards of all our efforts. I suppose that is what the canon is for. Max always makes fun that I take too many photos, but I think in this case it will be worth it.
