I am grateful for the last two days, which I’ve had off from work. Today was another beautiful day, which I spent pampering myself and just enjoying the good weather we’ve been having. I managed to complete a grant application; go for lunch at Samovar (an outdoor tea garden at Yerba Buena Gardens) and write in my journal. I’ve had “Artplan ‘07” on my to-do list since the first week of the year. Today I recapped on what I’d done thus far, and listed what’s left for the rest of the year. I even have a small list of projects scheduled for next year. Did I mention how good life has been to me in the bay area?
I am grateful for the pedicure I had at Bliss Spa today. This included a personal headset/tv combo to watch endless epis of Sex and the City. Can you say girlie?! I had read in the past that the price is worth it, and I will not argue. All in all I was there for 1.5 hours.
I am grateful for the film Eagle vs. Shark. I dashed over to see it at the movies this afternoon. If you haven’t heard of this – it’s a big MUST SEE in my opinion. I think I’m done with the American film circuit. All the international offerings I’ve seen lately have been superb. And this one was no exception. After seeing Whalerider I realized it is my destiny to visit New Zealand one day. After seeing this film, I feel I may be going there sooner than expected. I am currently in love with Jemaine Clement and his HBO show Flight of the Conchords.

I am grateful for Robert Smith. Without youtube I may not have been able to watch this on a whim. They just don’t make music or videos like this anymore. I remember seeing it when I was really little at my grandmother’s apartment. In high school I bought every Cure album that had been made until that point and then there was Disintegration. Oh god how I loved that album. Its difficult to listen to now – sort of makes you want to slit your wrists… But I fucking loved it at 14. I had this “In between Days” tshirt that I loved. I wish I’d never gotten rid of it. I can still feel the way the fabric felt on my skin. And I can still see those neon faces on the black tshirt.
I am grateful for Facebook. Somehow it’s just better than Friendster or Myspace.
I am grateful for my friend Marc and all the funny, inspiring, crazy shit he does.

I am grateful there are only 5 more posts to go before I am done with listing 3 things I’m grateful for. For something that was supposed to be just 30 days of what I’m grateful for, it sure has stretched out a while. I believe I started this in March just before Grady died…
I am grateful for Jen’s gorgeous new blog she’s doing from her residency in Berlin. There is a very special place in my heart for people who call me ‘pengy’.
I am grateful that there are only 2 more days left at my current job.
